Day 8 in Malawi and we are back in the remote comm Day 8 in Malawi and we are back in the remote community of Chiwinga where we are attending the inauguration ceremony for the new school block we just built at Chiwinga Primary School with our partners @buildon !

Chiwinga is an incredibly hardworking yet underesourced community that is nevertheless committed to improving the quality of education for their young learners. With more conducive learning environments, students are more motivated to stay in school and complete their primary education.

The community's collaboration with us in constructing 4 wells and now this new school block is a testament to this, and we are looking forward to more successful projects that can holistically drive sustainable development for the population here!

Day 7 in Malawi and we just finished the second ha Day 7 in Malawi and we just finished the second half of our inaugural Education is Power workshop for our sponsored students in the Kasikizi community!

Today's workshop focused primarily on leadership, and gender issues. The students had the opportunity to flex their creativity to represent leadership themes through drawings, skits, and group discussions.

We were also able to get the students to open up about gender norms and pressures -- a critical topic that they do not often get the opportunity to discuss openly. We also played a few rousing rounds of rock-paper-scissors to get us warmed up!

The workshop was very well received by all students and we can't wait to expand this initiative to more sponsored students across both of our partner countries!

Just a few days left of our Immerse trip in Malawi, stay tuned for more celebrations and surprises this week!
Day 6 in Malawi and time is flying! Today was the Day 6 in Malawi and time is flying! Today was the first day of our inaugural 'Education is Power' workshop focused on providing our sponsored students with additional mentorship and life skills training!

This workshop is a key step towards realizing our vision of expanding our sponsorship program beyond just financial support. We kicked off the workshop today with modules covering setting and achieving goals, and being a role model.

The students found it enriching and refreshing! We can't wait for the second half of the workshop tomorrow.

We have been spending a lot of time with our 'Educ We have been spending a lot of time with our 'Education is Power' students and their families in Malawi this week, learning about their experiences and understanding how student sponsorship has impacted them.

We have heard incredible stories of resilience, transformation, and the ripple effect of access to education on broader economic and social issues.

We can't wait to share these in-depth stories with you! Here's a preview of what's in store!

Day 3 in Malawi and we are in the remote area of C Day 3 in Malawi and we are in the remote area of Chiwinga where we have a close relationship with the community and have implemented a number of projects including drilling 4 wells, constructing a new primary school block with @buildon, distributing water filters, and where we are expanding our ‘Education Is Power’ program.

Key to our success here is the Chief of Chiwinga who we collaborate closely with to drive community engagement. Today we spent time with women who have been impacted by our wells, eager students at the new primary school, and the Chief himself.

The students are so excited for their new classrooms and so are we!

Day 2 in Malawi and it’s a very special one for Day 2 in Malawi and it’s a very special one for us as we inaugurated a new deep water well in the community of Kaulanyengo thanks to Petaluma and all of our generous Sonoma County supporters!

Just a few months ago we held a benefit concert called #WaterIsHerRight at @pollyklaascommunitytheater to raise funds to empower women & girls in Africa with access to clean, safe water. With the help of our sponsors we danced the evening away to amazing African fusion music from the Fula Brothers & KPS.

Fast forward to today as we proudly celebrated and danced here in Malawi because our community in the USA came together to help another community in need halfway across the world. That’s the spirit that the @sonder_project embodies and the community of Kaulanyengo is profoundly grateful and overjoyed!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our donors and all of our sponsors for making this dream a reality!! @petaluma_rotary , @integralpregnancy , @HenhouseBrewing , @lagunitaspetaluma , @redcarwine , @griffodistillery , @kellerestate , @sacrepublicfc and @thelumacenter
