🎁 This holiday season, let’s come together to 🎁 This holiday season, let’s come together to #UnwrapPotential!

We at The Sonder Project believe in the transformative power and fundamental rights of clean water, education, and food security for everyone. 🙌

And we're on a mission to empower rural communities in Burkina Faso & Malawi with these rights — from farmers cultivating dreams, to students reaching for the stars, and women who deserve to spend more time building futures than fetching water. 🌍

Every donation you make is a step towards unlocking all of the incredible potential within our partner communities. For example, when you provide a community with access to clean water, you are enabling them to focus more on their livelihoods and education. Or when you sponsor a student, you are helping pave their way to create a brighter future for themselves and their families. 👏

All of this leads to long-term, high-impact, sustainable development. And here's the magic: we're thrilled to offer a donation match until 12/31 thanks to two of our long-time supporters, effectively doubling the impact of your generosity up to $15,500! 🎊

Your year-end support means more than you know. Together, let's #UnwrapPotential and give the gifts of hope, opportunity, empowerment, and a brighter future. ⭐️

Introducing our first comprehensive solar-powered Introducing our first comprehensive solar-powered clean water system installed at a school! ☀️💧

At the Chayamba Secondary School in Malawi, accessing clean water had always been a challenge for the 600+ students and their teachers, disrupting academic life at this boarding school where we also sponsor 13 students.

Severe limitations in the public water supply and an antiquated, unclean shallow backup well were causing issues with health, hygiene, and food preparation, putting everyone on the premises at risk.

In the words of the student council president, Chifuniro, “Imagine you are in class under sweltering temperatures and you have not taken a bath and there is no water to drink. When meals are ready, you would eat without washing hands.”

The headmaster of Chayamba, Rogers Banda, told us that when he first explained to The Sonder Project about the poor water conditions at his school, he didn’t expect much to come of it. He had heard lots of promises in the past from NGOs that never materialized.

Yet here we stand, just one year after our first discussion with Headmaster Banda, inaugurating a new water system that will pump clean water to Chayamba's dormitories, kitchen, bathrooms, and various other parts of the school grounds using primarily renewable energy. The students at the ceremony were absolutely ecstatic!

Immense kudos go to our Malawi Country Director Belia, and her dedicated team, for following up and following through to achieve this incredible milestone! We are excited to monitor the impact of this new system and to leverage the learnings for more school water projects in Malawi and Burkina Faso!

Contribute to The Sonder Project today to help #UnwrapPotential for students who are being held back from their learning due to unclean and unsafe water. LINK IN BIO.

✨ Today, Tuesday November 28th, is #GivingTuesda ✨ Today, Tuesday November 28th, is #GivingTuesday !

⚖️ Giving Tuesday is a global movement towards a more balanced world where giving back to others is equally as valuable as caring for your own.

🌍 It’s not easy to change the world, but we have seen that small steps can have a huge impact. Giving Tuesday is not about grand gestures or being a wealthy philanthropist - it’s about anyone contributing whatever they can to something they believe can improve the lives of others less fortunate.

⚡️It’s about the power of collective selflessness, awareness, and action.

🫶 We have been blessed by a community of supporters with whom this idea resonates. Each and every one of you who has attended our events, sharing our social media posts, or hosted a fundraiser, is helping us to create a better future for impoverished communities in Africa.

🧡 For us, giving back comes in the form of drilling wells, building schools, sponsoring students, and creating community-led agriculture projects. We love to do the work on the ground, so we can make sure that every dollar we receive from our supporters is spent towards high-impact development to break the cycle of poverty in Burkina Faso and Malawi.

🤝 To help us achieve our goals, now through the end of the year, two of our longtime supporters are generously offering to match every donation up to $15,500, including sponsorships for up to 15 students. This means that any amount that you give today will be doubled, and your impact will be multiplied. That’s how small steps can lead to big results.

🤞We hope you will take the opportunity this @GivingTuesday to contribute to The Sonder Project and to any causes that you are passionate about, out of a compassion for others and a belief in a brighter future for all of us.

🙌 Thank you for taking the small steps with us!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! W Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

We are rounding out our week of #SonderGratitude today with some thoughts from Saidatou, our Education Coordinator in Burkina Faso, about what she is most thankful for in 2023:

“I am thankful for the smiles of the students we have sponsored. One student, Andrea, is from a very poor family and rides her bike 7km to school.  Since being sponsored, she is fulfilled and motivated, ready to take on new challenges.”

We are humbled by the stories of our Power students and the obstacles they overcome to get sponsored and attend school. And we are grateful for Saidatou for working closely with each of the students in our program to understand their personal challenges and what motivates them to succeed!

We continue our week of Thanksgiving gratitude 🙏 by asking each of our team members what they are most thankful for in 2023.

With food 🦃 on our mind, let's hear from Weilfried, our Agriculture Field Coordinator in Burkina Faso:

"I am grateful we were able to install and operate the new irrigation catchment system on the community farm, and some farm members were able to generate 5x their income in the first 4 months."

And we are very grateful to Weilfried for coordinating fantastic progress on our community farm in recent months! 🌾
Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 We wish you all a joyful Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 We wish you all a joyful long weekend full of gratitude and great food with your loved ones! 😊

This week we are sharing words of gratitude from our global team, and today we hear from our CEO, Chad!

"I am thankful for the opportunity to celebrate The Sonder Project's 50th well! To date, we have drilled 50 wells impacting over 55,000 people. So grateful for our supporters who enable us to empower communities and improve lives."

The launch of our 50th well in the community of Thimbi in Malawi this year was an absolutely incredible milestone, bringing together team members from both Burkina Faso and Malawi, and being able to celebrate with over 1,000 primary school students whose lives and education will be transformed as a result of having access to a clean and convenient water source next to their school!

We have a lot to give thanks for this year, and we'll be sharing more #SonderGratitude during the long weekend. Stay tuned!
