While developing our community farm in Burkina Faso, we sought to connect our global work to our local community in the Florida Panhandle.
Beginning in 2018, we funded three school and community gardens:
November 2018 - Food for Thought Garden
Food for Thought is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida that combats food insecurity throughout the greater county. The Sonder Project funded and rebuilt their garden at their Destin office to support their Full Circle Kitchen programs. The garden is maintained by Food for Thought.


April 2019 - Kingdom Impact Center Community Garden April 2019 - Kingdom Impact Center Community Garden
In partnership with The Kingdom Impact Center in Panama City, Florida, The Sonder Project built a community garden to increase access to fresh produce and provide a therapeutic outlet for recent Hurricane Michael victims. The garden is now maintained by The Kingdom Impact Center and its members.
January 2019 - Walton High School
– In partnership with Walton High School in Defuniak Springs, Florida, The Sonder Project funded and built a school garden to support the school’s culinary program and new agriculture program. The garden is maintained by Walton High School.

Planting the Seeds for Lifelong Gardeners
In January of 2020, the first seedlings in the new Sonder Project garden at Walton High School were planted with the support of students from Ms. Spice’s culinary classes.
